University Forum Lecture: Burning Man

The College of Liberal Arts presents the University Forum Lecture Burning Man: A Temporary and Enduring Home a discussion by Deborah A. Boehm, assistant professor and Carolyn L. White, associate professor, Department of Anthropology, University of Nevada, Reno
For a week each summer, approximately 50,000 people flock to Black Rock City, Nevada, to participate in Burning Man, an arts and self-expression festival. The city is purpose-built each year and is dismantled immediately following the event, returning the playa to its vast emptiness. Through a multi-media presentation, Deborah A. Boehm (cultural anthropologist) and Carolyn L. White (archaeologist) will examine the city, its inhabitants, and the community of Burning Man, which they have studied since 2008.
