Saturday of Service: Vegas Roots Community Garden

When: Apr. 28, 2012, 8:30am - 12:30pm
Office/Remote Location: 715 N. Tonopah Dr., Las Vegas, NV, 89106

Join Rebel Service Council for our last Saturday of Service event of the semester. We will be going to Vegas Roots Community Garden to participate in regular maintenance and cleaning of the garden. The community garden's mission is to bring personal and social change through sustainable urban agriculture. Urban gardening is an effective way to teach communities the necessities of healthy eating. Located off Bonanza Road and Tonopah Drive, the garden is central to West Las Vegas, a historically lower income community.

Transportation is limited to the first 10 participants. Everyone else will need to carpool to the site. We will depart from the UNLV Student Union at 8:30 a.m. and arrive back at the Student Union by 12:30 p.m.  Individuals who are driving to the service project site on their own must arrive by 9 a.m.

Dress comfortable and warm in clothes you won't mind getting dirty or stained. Tennis shoes preferred, no sandals.

Admission Information:

Admission is free to all UNLV students, staff and faculty; Registration is required.
