Cecilia Maldonado, associate vice provost for Workforce Development, is returning to a faculty position in the department of counselor education, school psychology, and human services, effective July 1. 

Maldonado has held both academic and administrative positions at UNLV for nearly 23 years. During this time, she has had leadership positions in several departments, including the offices of faculty affairs, faculty excellence, academic programs, and most recently, the office of the senior vice provost of academic affairs. Maldonado is pleased to return to her faculty position at the College of Education, where she plans to work with her colleagues to restart a Workforce Development program. 

As the associate vice provost for Workforce Development, Maldonado has been centrally involved in UNLV's growing engagement with employers and our commitment to workforce-aligned educational opportunities for students. During this time, she led the way in establishing a Workforce Taskforce from 2020 to 2021; co-chaired the Workforce Taskforce, which established the UNLV Career Competencies that served as the basis for creating our UNLV Career & Life Design Badges; and co-developed the Top Tier 2.0 metrics related specifically to Student Achievement: Career Development and Progression. In addition, Maldonado served as the UNLV representative for state and local workforce agencies to ensure alignment between university degree program offerings and state needs as well as coordinating the MGM College Opportunity Program, which enabled the successful degree completion of several non-traditional students at UNLV. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Maldonado was instrumental in helping to ensure that UNLV was in compliance with NSHE's International Travel Policy by designing an approval and tracking system for all international travel. Dr. Maldonado also served as the University Policy Committee (UPC) Chair.
